Dead-hedging at Bramblefields reserve.

As an alternative to a fence a dead hedge can be a very effect barrier but also an added habitat. In addition the dead hedge can be constantly added to which is a very useful way of tidying up cuttings from winter work. The dead hedge provides shelter and nesting opportunities but also encourages decomposers to gather and which then become an added food source. Dead hedges are also great for providing temporary protection as species move from one location to another. Simple and fun to construct as well!
