Bumblebee Survey

As part of the Bumblebee survey of the city, organised by the City Greenways Project, we shall be focusing on these fascinating creatures at sites throughout West Cambridge. Meet outside Adams Road Sanctuary on Adams Road.
Grazing preparation

With the introduction of cattle in the next couple of weeks, help is needed with the preparation of the reserve, including the removal of old fencing and the establishment of a drinking area.

Woodland and Path Management
Tuesday, 19 August 2008 : 9.30 to 3.30pm
To promote a diverse range of flora and fauna we will be cutting bays and removing the cuttings.
Pond and Meadow management
Tuesday, 26 August 2008 : 9.30 to 3.30pm
We will be cutting areas of the meadow and removing the cuttings. We will also make a start on clearing back vegetation within the ponds to maintain areas of open water for Amphbians, dragonflies and other pond dwelling creatures.
Pond & Meadow Management

We will be cutting the triangle area behind the pond to maintain areas of open grassland. We will also reduce some of the vegetation in the pond to benefit breeding amphibians and other pond dwelling creatures.
Riverbank Management
Tuesday, 23 September 2008 : 9.30am to 3.30pm
On the site of the proposed Logan’s Meadow LNR extension we will be cutting back some of the scrub along the river edge to allow emergent vegetation to flourish and to keep the Cam open for navigation. Meet at entrance to Logan’s Meadow LNR.
Healing hedgerows-Medicinal Plant Indentification walks

The Medicinal Plant Walks are a wonderful opportunity to gain a 'hedgerow-herbalist's eye-view' of the plants that grow in our wild places - and to learn some of the ways in which this generous resource can be utilised.
Paradise marsh management
Tuesday, 30 September 2008 : 9.30am to 3.30pm
We will be cutting a section of the marsh and cutting back trees which are encroaching the marsh.
